President - Hampton Woods
School: Senior @ Mt. Paran Christian School
Hampton is the Co-Founder of Haygood and Woods Co., L.L.C. He and his business partner, Jake Haygood, attended PEDS 2040 on behalf of iCAN where they participated in the Young Innovators Workshop and Innovation Beach. They presented their medical device at Innovation Beach and won the popular vote award. The team has also presented at the Georgia Aquarium for Molecules for Minions. Hampton has been a keynote speaker for the Pediatric Pharmacy Association's annual meeting, has participated in the International Society for Pediatric Innovation (iSPI) roundtable discussions at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Pediatric Technology Center at Georgia Tech, and the International Congress of Pediatrics in Vancouver, British Columbia. He has represented KIDS Georgia at the ICAN summit in Washington D.C., Spain, and Florida. and the International Congress of Pediatrics in Vancouver, British Columbia. When Hampton was four months old, he was diagnosed with idiopathic cirrhosis, necessitating a non-related living donor liver transplant. Hampton has been enrolled in a clinical research study called iWith in conjunction with Emory University. Hoping to pursue a career in biomedical engineering, Hampton has received his industry certification in SolidWorks CAD. In addition, Hampton enjoys playing the baritone, hanging out with his friends, competing in swim team, and leading a middle school boys' small group at Woodstock City Church.
Vice President - Paige Meisner
Bio: Paige Meisner is in 11th grade at Lakeside High School. She’s the Vice President of KIDS Ga, and has been an active member since it’s creation. She was recently accepted into the Explorer program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). During the summer, Paige also volunteers at CHOA through their Volunteer program. She’s on the varsity swim team, water polo team, and coaches at Dynamo Swim Club and Twin Lakes. She’s a member of the Student Government at her school, and recently helped begin the C.A.L.M club. This is Paige’s third year on the KIDS board, and she’s been a member of KIDS Georgia since its creation. She loves medicine and science and plans to pursue a medical career. She is grateful for the opportunities given through KIDS Georgia, and can’t wait for another amazing year.
Communications - Matthew Plunk
Matthew is an 12th grader at Wesleyan School. He is active in marching band, track and field, academic bowl, and history bowl. While science is certainly not his forte, he enjoys the allure of learning new things in any domain, and thus became very involved in KIDS upon joining. He attended the 2015 and 2017 iCAN Research Summits on behalf of KIDS Georgia, and this is his second year as treasurer. In his spare time, he reads and browses the Web.
Technology Officer - Jake Haygood
Bio: Jake is a senior at Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw, Ga. Since the age of nine when he received a book on Python, programming has been a passion of his. He is a self-taught programmer fluent in a variety of programming languages including C, C++, Arduino, Python, C#, Java, and VB.net. Currently, he serves on the iCAN youth board. As the co-Founder of Haygood and Woods Co., L.L.C., Jake attended PEDS 2040 with his business partner on behalf of iCAN. There they participated in the Young Innovator’s Workshop and were given the unique opportunity to present their medical device at Innovation Beach. Haygood and Woods Co., L.L.C. won the popular vote award for their presentation. They also demonstrated their device at the Southeastern Pediatric Research Innovation Conference held at the Georgia Aquarium. He is interested in computer architecture and how electrical components interface to form logic modules and complex electrical systems. For the past 3 years, he has used his computer science skills to mentor a younger student. Jake is currently learning about the x86 assembly language and the internals of operating systems and is exploring his newest passion cyber-security.
Historian - Ava Hooley
My name is Ava Hooley and I'm the Historian for KIDS Georgia. I’m a sophomore at Marietta High School. I play tennis for the MHS team and have been playing tennis for seven years. I plan to work in Pediatrics as a career. I have had inspiring experiences with children by volunteering on Blue Skies mission trips and Visual Arts summer camps at Mount Paran Christian School. I am excited about my new position with the KIDS GA chapter 2018-2019 and to be part of a team of peers dedicated to serve children in need.
Treasurer - Ben Hecker
